About the Course

Dconstruction is a methodological course for dance teachers created by Naomi Perlov and has been developed with Sharon Rubinov Biderman, in Tel – Aviv, Israel, since 2015. The course provides tools for formulating lesson plans, annual curriculums, provision and implementation of corrections. Encouraging studying musical content and expanding the knowledge of body, weight and gravity, Dconstruction formulates foundations of movement mechanisms and organizes them in a structured syllabus for dance teachers while at the same time emphasizes the artistic aspects of rehearsal directing.

The concrete need of students and teachers for knowledge and tools to formulate their own contemporary syllabus that show identity, language and depth, was the driving force to close the gap between the disappearance of traditional modern dance techniques like Graham, Horton, Cunningham, Lemon and the evolution of contemporary dance that incorporates several methods, eclectic ideas and new languages.

So, what is the value of the course? Dconstruction includes five levels which are built according to the syllabus of Naomi Perlov's modern classes. In the course we will deeply elaborate, wonder, and reflect on seemingly self-evident stuff that is hard to deal with in daily teaching routines. Therefore, Dconstruction encourages a professional and analytical approach of teaching that helps to sharpen and clarify ways of teaching dance. We will strive to maintain your uniqueness and personality within your teaching by looking at the footprint, identity and grammar of contemporary dance.
